The First Annual AKD Pre-Conference Workshop on Teaching and Learning
“From Initial Design to Final Assessment: Increased Learning through Intentional Pedagogy”
Thursday, April 4th 2013, 8:30am–4pm at Crowne Plaza, Indianapolis, IN
Do you ever wonder why teaching strategies sometimes work perfectly and sometimes…don’t? Would you like to use less trial and error to develop your courses? Would exerting less energy while facilitating more learning positively impact your professional life?
Join us! Through engagement with experienced colleagues and with each other, keynotes, panels, discussions, roundtables and networking are designed to provide an integrated learning experience grounded in the scholarship of teaching and learning that will help participants use intentional pedagogical choices to increase learning.
We are planning to provide a learning experience that will benefit those working within a range of settings, including instructors working within community colleges, small liberal arts institutions as well as early career faculty and graduate students.
Acceptances are made on a rolling basis but we would appreciate applications and registration fees no later than March 4th, 2013; space is limited to 30 participants but a waiting list will be maintained. A non-refundable $45 registration fee covers pre-conference materials, programming, and lunch. Early application is appreciated and ensures that there is space for you. You can register at the NCSA conference site that will be available in November. http://www.ncsanet.org/ Fellowship support is available through AKD at https://sites.google.com/site/alphakappadeltainternational/Home
Check out the NCSA site for 2 for 1 specials for attending both the preconference workshop and the conference itself. http://www.ncsanet.org/
Please contact the workshop organizers, Melinda Messineo, mmessine@bsu.edu or Becky Erickson, rericks@uakron.edu, for any additional information. We hope you can join us!
