Announcement Listserv

Along with the Newsletter, this electronic mailing list is the means for communicating official section-related information to the membership. The ASA is responsible for maintaining this distribution list, which is populated with the e-mail addresses of currently active (i.e., dues-paying) section members. Occasionally, a member might request to be excluded from the list. Such requests should be addressed to infoservice@asanet.org. A marker is placed on the member's record so that the e-mail address will be excluded when the distribution list is refreshed. ASA updates the distribution list on a bi-monthly basis or as needed. Note that the Section cannot remove members from the list.

If you would like to post a message to the list, please send it to: owner-aging@listserv.asanet.org. The message will be transferred to the list moderator, Amélie Quesnel-Vallée, who will post it on your behalf. Note that this listserv handles only section-specific announcements. To make general announcements that are not section-specific (e.g., a conference sponsored by another organization), you should send the information to the Discussion Listserv.

Discussion Listserv

As mentioned previously, the announcement distribution list is maintained by ASA and is composed of all current members of the section. What that means is that some who are on the list may not want to receive general announcements about the field. Moreover, there may be those who do want to receive those announcements but are not on the list because they are not members of the section. To overcome these problems, we have also set up a section discussion listserv that handles general announcements such as conferences, publications, funding opportunities relevant to aging and the life course. The discussion listserv can be joined by anyone, including those who are not members of the section. If you would like to be part of this list, you must add yourself to the list. This is easy and takes only a few minutes. Simply send an email to:

majordomo@listserv.asanet.org

In the body of the message include only the following:

subscribe aging

After sending your message, you will be sent a confirmation note with instructions. Once you finish the confirmation process, you will be added to that list. Note that even if you are on the announcement list you will not be on the discussion list unless you add yourself.

Messages to be sent out over the discussion list should be sent to Amélie Quesnel-Vallée at owner-aging@listserv.asanet.org.

If you have any questions or comments about either list, please feel free to contact Amélie Quesnel-Vallée directly at:
