Duties of Elected Officers Elected Position Duties Chair Represents the Section to ASA Executive Office and Council. Appoints and chairs annual Program Committee Chairs annual Section Council and Business meetings Submits annual report on the Section to ASA Executive Office Appoints all committees Chair-Elect Serves on the Section Council Assumes duties of the Chair in the latter's absence or incapacity Chairs the Distinguished Scholar Selection Committee Past-Chair Serves on the Section Council Chairs the Committee on Nominations Secretary-Treasurer Serves on the Section Council Prepares minutes of the Section's annual Council and Business meeting Oversees special elections (e.g., changes in By-laws) Provides Council with copies of the By-laws and the ASA Manual on Sections Authorizes expenditures of the Section's funds (e.g., cash award to Student Paper Awardee) and provides annual budgetary report Council Representatives (6) Serve on the Section Council. During their first year, they organize the Roundtable Sessions at the annual ASA meeting. During their second year, they serve on the Student Paper Award Committee. During their third year, they serve on the Distinguished Scholar Award Committee. Student Representative (2) Serve on the Section Council.
