The Data Analyst/Programmer will play a technical role in the collection and analysis of data for large-scale automated data collection/report generation projects. Responsibilities will include developing analysis and reporting tools, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and producing reports suitable for multiple audiences. Master's Degree or advanced coursework in sociology, psychology, economics, statistics, or related field is required. Social Science Research Council. Program Director, SSRC Mellon Mays Fellowship Program. The Social Science Research Council (SSRC), a not-for-profit organization devoted to the advancement of social science research and scholarship, seeks a Program Director for the SSRC Mellon Mays Fellowship Program. Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, this program builds on the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) Program, established in 1989 as the centerpiece of the Mellon Foundation's effort to support the development and training of historically underrepresented minority scholars and others allied to these purposes. The MMUF program aims to increase the number of African Americans, Latinos, and Native Americans, and those with a demonstrated commitment to the goals of MMUF in core fields within the arts and sciences, and to diversify the faculties at colleges and universities by providing support for qualified scholars dedicated to the goals of a diverse faculty and scholarship. The Director will provide leadership to the program and its small team of dedicated professionals. S/he will be responsible for the overall management of the Mellon Mays Fellowship Program including all events, competitions, publications, reports and budgets. Creative energy will be focused on putting in place a newly designed portfolio of interventions designed to attract and retain MMUF students at the graduate level. A proven leader, the director will focus on outreach, communications and network building among the MMUF community of institutions and individuals. This position will require energy, enthusiasm, strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to travel domestically and on occasion internationally. Design of outreach strategies and both print and web based communications materials and tools will be required. American Statistical Association (ASA) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). 2006 Research Fellowship Program. The ASA/NCHS Research Fellowship Program is designed to bridge the gap between Academic scholars and the Federal government's health research programs. This program allows researchers to come to NCHS where they use NCHS data and facilities and to interact with NCHS staff. Applicants should have an academically recognized research record and considerable expertise in their areas of proposed research. University of New Hampshire. Family Research Laboratory (FRL) has fellowships for research on family violence available beginning both immediately and in June 2006. Positions are open to new and experienced researchers with a PhD in the fields of psychology, sociology, social work, law, nursing, public health and medicine. The fellowships sponsor work in the area of child abuse, marital violence, elder abuse, sexual abuse, child victimization, rape, homicide and other family-violence related topics. Scholars use the one-year fellowship (with possible one-year extension) to collaborate with FRL faculty on a current project, to work on one of the many data sets archived at the FRL or, in the case of senior candidates, to work on their own projects. Princeton University. LSR Visiting Fellowships. The University Center for Human Values invites applications from all disciplines for Laurance S. Rockefeller Visiting Fellowships. These fellowships will be awarded for the academic year 2006-07 to outstanding scholars and teachers interested in devoting a year in residence at Princeton writing about ethics and human values. Applicants typically have a doctorate or a professional post-graduate degree and cannot be in the process of writing a dissertation. The University Center supports teaching, research, and discussion of ethics and human values throughout the curriculum and across the disciplines at Princeton University. With seminar and lecture courses, public lectures and symposia, a publications series, and the scholarly work of its faculty and visiting fellows, the center fosters ongoing inquiry into important ethical issues in private and public life. Fellows normally receive stipends of up to one-half their academic year salaries (not exceeding a maximum stipend set each fall) for the fellowship period, which extends from September 1st to June 30th. The fellows' home institutions are expected to provide at least half of their salaries in addition to all benefits. Rice University. The Department of Sociology at Rice University is offering a two-year postdoctoral fellowship to begin July 2006. The primary focus of the fellowship is to collaborate with Michael Emerson on the Panel Study of American Religion and Ethnicity (PS-ARE). Work includes analyzing data and writing papers from the recently collected first round of the PS-ARE, writing materials for the public use website of the PS-ARE, helping design and plan the second round of the survey, and supporting the work of CORRUL, www.rice.edu/~soci/corrul. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Postdoctoral Fellowship Scholars in Health Policy Research Program. Application Deadline: October 21, 2005. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Scholars in Health Policy Research Program was established in 1992 to develop a new generation of creative thinkers in health policy research. Recent graduates of doctoral programs in economics, political science, and sociology-including junior faculty-are invited to apply for this unique and challenging fellowship. Up to 12 Scholars will be selected in the coming year to participate in the Program starting August 2006 at one of three nationally prominent academic institutions-Harvard University, the University of California at Berkeley (in collaboration with the University of California at San Francisco), and The University of Michigan. There they will have the opportunity to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary environments with faculty from the social sciences, medicine, public health, and public policy with the expectation they will seek to make important research contributions to future health policy in the United States. Scholars have access to the full range of university resources and receive annual stipend support of $77,000 for the first year and $80,000 for the second year of the program. There are no teaching or administrative responsibilities. Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must have a doctoral degree in economics, political science, or sociology received after January 1, 2001, but not later than July 15, 2006.
