American Sociological Association. Staff Sociologist/Director of Minority Affairs Sought. The American Sociological Association (ASA) is searching for a sociologist to join the professional staff and direct ASA's Minority Affairs Program (MAP). The position provides the opportunity to work with a like-minded group of other sociologists and a staff seeking to advance sociology, work on field development, and promote ASA objectives and activities. The Program Director is responsible for program planning and for administering the day-to-day operations of the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP). Now in its 32nd year of providing predoctoral support and training, the MFP is funded primarily through the National Institute of Mental Health. Also, the Program Director works on other ASA issues and initiatives that further sociology and the work of sociologists, including providing support to the ASA Student Forum and the ASA Honors Program. This staff member, like other staff sociologists, also serves as liaison to ASA committees or task forces. Nominations and applications are sought. The program, funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), provides advanced multidisciplinary training to economists, political scientists, sociologists, public policy and health professionals. Carolina Consortium on Human Development of the Center for Developmental Science announces NRSA fellowships for 2006-2007. It is anticipated that several postdoctoral fellowships will be available. The goal of the Fellowship Program is to provide advanced interdisciplinary training in human development that focuses on the longitudinal study of persons and families in changing contexts. The Carolina Consortium is a NICHD-sponsored interdisciplinary training program with faculty whose appointments span across over 20 departments or schools in the social, behavioral, and health sciences from six neighboring universities (UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Greensboro, Duke University, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University, and Meredith College), as well as other collaborating research universities in the United States. Columbia University Psychiatric Epidemiology Training Program announces openings for pre- and postdoctoral fellows beginning September 2006. The program provides social scientists, epidemiologists, psychologists, and psychiatrists with research skills in psychiatric epidemiology. Training involves coursework in substantive issues and research methods, and participation in an affiliated research unit. Ohio State University. The Mershon Center Post-Doctoral Fellowship in International Security Studies. Rice University. The Department of Sociology at Rice University is offering a two-year postdoctoral fellowship to begin July 2006. The primary focus of the fellowship is to collaborate with Michael Emerson on the Panel Study of American Religion and Ethnicity (PS-ARE). SUNY-College at Brockport. Two Presidential Fellows Faculty Positions. These full-time faculty positions for two years are dedicated to enhancing the diversity of scholarly and teaching perspectives within the college, for the educational benefit of the SUNY Brockport students.
