  1. ASA's Sociology of Emotions Section’s Recent Contribution Award: Nominations are being sought for the most outstanding article published in the last three years that advances the sociology of emotions empirically, theoretically, or methodologically. The recipient must be a member of the Sociology of Emotions section. Send nominations to Kathryn Lively. Deadline for nominations is February 1, 2009. Deadline for receipt of articles is February 15, 2009.   2. ASA’s Sociology of Emotions Section’s Outstanding Graduate Student Paper Award: Nominations are being sought for the most outstanding, article-length graduate student paper that contributes to the sociology of emotions empirically, theoretically, or methodologically. Authors of eligible papers must be graduate students at the time of the paper's submission. Multiple-authored papers are eligible for the award if all authors are graduate students. Papers that have been accepted for publication at the time of nomination are not eligible. To submit a nomination, please send three copies of the paper to: Jennifer Lois; Department of Sociology, Arntzen Hall 530, Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA 98225. Deadline for submissions is April 1, 2009.

  3. Lifetime Achievement Award: Nominations are sought to honor a member of the Section with a record of several years of scholarly work of exceptional merit and who has developed and extended the sociology of emotions empirically, theoretically, or methodologically. To submit a nomination, please send a letter in support of your nominee by December 1st, 2008 to: Lynn Smith-Lovin; Department of Sociology, 348A Soc/Psych Building, Duke University, Durham, NC 27708.
