Program ScheduleThe scheduling of the activities of the Annual Meeting is the responsibility of the ASA Executive Office. The tentative schedule of general ASA activities and plenary sessions for 2004 is as follows. No other activities may be held during the plenary times noted below.

DuBois 8:30-9:30p.m., Welcoming Party Saturday, August 14 12:30-2:15 p.m., Plenary Session 6:30-8:15 p.m., Section Receptions 7:30-9:15 p.m., Public Lecture: Mary Robinson 9:30-11:00 p.m., Departmental Alumni Night Sunday, August 15 4:30-6:15 p.m., Awards Ceremony & Presidential Address 6:30- 7:30 p.m., Honorary Reception 8:00-10:00 p.m., Activities of Other Groups 9:30-11:00 p.m., Just Desserts, a TEF Benefit Reception Monday, August 16 12:30-2:15 p.m., Plenary Session 6:30-8:15 p.m., Section Receptions 7:30-9:15 p.m., Public Lecture Arundhati Roy 9:30-11:00 p.m., MFP Benefit Reception Tuesday, August 17 7:00-8:15 a.m., ASA Business Meeting Due to the complexities of scheduling a program with nearly 600 sessions and more than 4,000 participants, it is not possible to avoid all conflicts of individual obligations. Participants with multiple commitments may contact their session organizers or ASA Meeting Services staff anytime before March 15, 2004 and request scheduling consideration. Meeting Services staff will try to accommodate reasonable requests, but no guarantees can be given. Information on the program schedule in general will not be available before May 15. Section Scheduling. Section activities are pre-assigned to specific days. Section session times on those days will not be finalized until the overall program schedule is completed. The revised rotation schedule for Section activities in 2004 results in the groupings on assigned days shown below. All Section program sessions and Council/Business meetings will be scheduled on the assigned days. Those Sections whose programs are larger than the time slots available on their days will have sessions scheduled on adjacent days, as noted below. Section Council/Business meetings must be held on the assigned days.

*one session must be scheduled on the following day Section receptions will be scheduled on the first and third evenings of the meeting. For 2004, sections whose assigned program day is August 14 or 15 will have access to reception space at 6:30 p.m. on the evening of August 14. Sections that meet on August 16 or 17 will have reception space made available at 6:30 p.m. on the evening of August 16. Requests from Section Chairs for reception space are due by March 1, 2004. |
